MORE than 50 youngsters from a Teesside school will be fighting against their bleary eyes as they stay awake to celebrate National Bedtime Reading Week and World Book Day on Friday.
In an all-night bedtime reading session, the youngsters from Egglescliffe School will be taking part in a host of activities to keep awake.
Guests will be sharing their storytelling skills, and pizzas will be available at midnight, followed by drama performed by sixth form students.
Staff are hoping members of the Fire Brigade and Cleveland Police will keep the youngsters on their toes when they visit in the early hours.
A magician will be working his magic and there will be competitions to keep the youngsters alert.
Ann Robson, library resources technician, said: "I don't think there will be any problem in keeping the children awake. There will be non-stop activities to keep them occupied.
"They are already extremely excited about the event and are looking forward to it."
