A YOUNG Staffordshire bull terrier needs a new home, almost a year after he was rehomed by the National Animal Sanctuaries Support League, in Darlington.

Two-year-old Monty featured in The Northern Echo last July, when he was looking for a home.

A reader in Newton Aycliffe offered to take him in, but has since decided the cheeky dog is too much of a handful.

Now, Monty, who is being cared for by the National Animal Sanctuaries Support League, is on the look-out for another home.

Pauline Wilson, from the league, said: "We had a good response to the initial appeal last year and we found Monty a really loving home.

"But, sadly, he is just a little bit too much for his new owners. He is a lively dog and is a bit boisterous.

"With a bit of training he would make a great family pet and is fine with children and other animals.

"Someone who has experience of bull terriers would be ideal, because they could cope with his nature.

"His favourite thing is walking and he would love someone who could take him on a long walk every day."
