DOG lover Margaret Robson is celebrating after her pet won best in breed in the most famous dog show in the world.
The 59-year-old, from Newton Aycliffe, has trained dogs for most of her life and was delighted to come away from Crufts with the best in breed award for her field spaniel, Darcy.
The brown-haired dog beat off dozens of other hopefuls in the field spaniel category.
Now Mrs Robson and her husband, Mick, are hoping to build on their success in the future.
She said: "He was so well behaved, and the judges really took to him. We are delighted that he won best in breed.
"We have been to Crufts before and come away with a medal, but it is the first time we have won a winners' medal, so we are absolutely delighted."
