VANDALISM WORRY: Bor-oughbridge Association Foot-ball Club has written to the council about vandalism at the football field, especially in the spectator shelters. Coun-cillors heard that the damage was happening at weekends and that police had been informed. The matter will be brought to the attention of the next Community and Police Liaison Group meeting.

M-WAY SERVICES: Members heard that an inquiry into provision of motorway ser-vice areas is to be reopened. There are four local sites to be considered at the inquiry. Councillors agreed to register the fact that the town council would like to have repre-sentation at the inquiry.

SPONSORSHIP CONCERN: Councillors are concerned about the lack of progress made by the company work-ing on finding roundabout sponsorship for the town. It was agreed that the regener-ation group would look at the situation and bring some proposals back to the council.

GOLDEN JUBILEE: Harrogate Borough Council has con-firmed to the town council that there should not be a problem closing streets for street parties for the Queen's Golden Jubilee in June, as long as these are not main roads. Anyone holding a street party should notify the borough council.

WINTER GRITTING: Hamble-ton District Council is to set up new winter gritting routes. To discuss changes, focus groups are to be set up and town councillors have been invited to a meeting to discuss this on April 8. Councillor Jo Salmon said the junctions approaching estate roads should be included on the routes, so that drivers could at least access and exit ungritted estate roads in safety.

TOILETS 'DISGRACE': The town centre manager, Coun-cillor Steve Hubberd, told the meeting that the Market Place toilets were in a disgusting state. "I received several com-plaints so went down to see for myself. There was litter all over the place, and graffiti," he said. Hambleton District Council will be asked to take action.

PLAY AREA: County coun-cillor Jan Marshall reported that plans were being prepared for a new play area at Craigs Way.

PAST POINTERS: Two interpretation boards giving the history of various places in the town are planned. Local historian Cooper Harding has been invited to help with the text. Artists from English Heritage will provide the illustrations and graphics.
