RACE DAY: Irish Stew will be served at the Cheltenham Gold Cup Day in the Plough, High Flatts, tomorrow. Lagers and Murphy's Stout will be priced at £1.50 and all beers will cost £1.25 during the day.
TEEING OFF: The cancelled Christmas game of the Wheatsheaf 2000 Golf Soc-iety will be held at the Gos-wick Golf Course on Sunday, March 24, with the presen-tation at 6.30pm being foll-owed by a buffet.
OPEN MEETING: An open parish meeting will be held by St Joseph's RC Parish at 8pm, on Tuesday, in the Parish Centre, Birtley.
PARLIAMENT TRIP: MP Kev-an Jones took a party of 32 sixth-formers from Hermitage School, Chester-le-Street, on a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament.

IRISH NIGHT: The Falcon, at Hilda Park, is holding a St Patrick's Eve Extravaganza from 8pm on Saturday.
SYRIAN TREASURES: Jim Madden will tell the members of the Sacriston and District Everyman's Club about the Hidden Treasures of Syria at a meeting starting at 7.30pm, on Tuesday, in the lounge of St John's Court.
