Road and tip centre closure
DRIVERS in Hartlepool are being warned of roadworks which will be carried out in the town this weekend. Due to essential resurfacing work, the section of Burn Road from Baltic Street to Whitby Street will be closed from 5pm on Saturday and will reopen late on Sunday evening. As a result, Hartlepool Borough Council's civic amenity site, in Burn Road, will be closed on Sunday.
NEW CRECHE: A Middlesbrough fitness club has opened a crche in an effort to persuade parents to join the gym. Yorke Fitness, in Linthorpe Road, has childcare facilities available between 9.30am and 11.30am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 1pm to 3pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. BOY RESCUED: Firefighters rescued a four-year-old boy after his arm got trapped in a stairway banister at his home in Ashbrooke Way, Whinney Banks, Middlesbrough, yesterday. The child was uninjured.
MINI PRIZE: Shoppers at Morrisons, Teesside Park, will have the chance of winning a new Mini One car by entering a British Gas prize draw. To enter, shoppers can visit the British Gas roadshow at Morrisons between next Monday and Saturday, March 23.
BOOK SALE: World Book Day is being marked with a book sale at a Teesside Primary School, tomorrow. William Cassidi School, in Stillington, is holding the sale to raise the profile of World Book Day. All money raised will go to Book Aid, a charity linked to the international event.

COFFEE MORNING: The Methodist Ladies' Circle is holding a coffee morning on Saturday at Norton Methodist Church Hall, in aid of blind charity Torch. Admission is 60p.
EASTER FAIR: St Paul's Church, in Bishopton Road, Stockton, is holding an Easter fair on Saturday from noon. There will be stalls, including books, white elephant, tombola and a raffle. Lunches will be served between noon and 2pm.
