Construction and development company, S Harrison has reported a 40 per cent increase in turnover in the last year.
The Malton, North Yorkshire-based business saw turnover top the £31m mark in the year to December 31, compared to £22m in 2000.
Despite the rise in turnover, profits were slightly down from £2.7m to £2m. Chairman Martyn Harrison said: "A profit of £2m is significantly above the sector average, partly as a result of the contribution achieved by the continued success of our activities."
He said the outlook for the current year was very positive, with Harrison's currently involved in major projects across the North.
He said: "The strategy of developing sound partnerships with major blue chip organisations across the North of England has created a solid foundation on which to build an even stronger business."
Mr Harrison put the 40 per cent increase in turnover down to the strength of the company's construction division, which successfully completed a number of major projects during the year.
These included building projects for CPP, Norwich Union and The Church of England Pensions Board.
Looking ahead, Mr Harrison said: "2002 has started on a positive note. A joint venture with Goodalls Group is beginning to deliver regeneration projects in Scarborough and a joint venture with English partnerships, signed during 2001, will see Harrison involved in a £15m mixed retail and community scheme in Preston."
