Aid for victims of violence
Darlington's Domestic Violence Forum has thanked the town's mayor, Councillor Isobel Hartley, and Brownies, Guides and leaders of the Locomotion division of the Guide Association, in Darlington, for helping to raise £606 by packing shoppers' bags at a supermarket.
The money will go towards promotional material to help children affected by violence in the home.
ANNUAL MEETING: Shildon Angling Club is holding its annual meeting at Elm Road Working Men's Club on Monday, March 25, at 7.30pm.
COUNCIL CABINET: A meeting of Sedgefield Borough Council's cabinet will be held in the council offices, Green Lane, Spennymoor, tomorrow, at 10am.
CHURCH HISTORY: Archivists at St Cuthbert's Church, Darlington, are gathering material for the second half of an exhibition called A Century of Service. They are seeking material, photographs and memories of the past 50 years at the church.
SPRING FAIR: St James the Great Church, Darlington, is holding a spring fair on March 23, at 2pm, in the church hall.
WI MEETING: Middleton St George Women's Institute's next meeting is on March 28, when a member of St John Ambulance will give a talk on emergency first aid.
HANDWRITING COURSE: A day school called Improve Your Handwriting will be held on April 6, between 10am and 4pm, by the Workers' Educational Association at Bennett House, Horsemarket, Darlington. For details call (01325) 357801.
CONCERT DATE: Darlington Choral Society will perform Haydn's The Creation in St Cuthbert's Church on Saturday, at 7.15pm.
TRAFFIC DELAY: Traffic lights will be operating in Lingfield Way, Darlington, for the next three weeks, while kerbing and carriageway surfacing is carried out.
COFFEE MORNING: The Teesdale committee of Cancer Research UK is holding a coffee morning in Cotherstone's Methodist schoolroom on Easter Saturday, from 10am to noon.
CHARITY SHOW: A charity night at Spennymoor Town Hall on April 5 will raise money for the Spennymoor division of St John Ambulance and dermatology clinics in the county. Tickets are available from Linda Aunger on (01388) 812626.
GOSPEL CONCERT: A country gospel concert is being held at Wolsingham Baptist Church on March 23, at 7pm.
BALLROOM DANCING: The Midi Dance Orchestra is holding a 50:50 dance in Spennymoor Town Hall on Friday, at 8pm. For tickets call (01388) 817914.
DANCE DATE: The Mayor and Mayoress of Sedgefield Borough, Councillor and Mrs Andy Grey were among the guests at a dinner dance held by the Mayor of Sedgefield Councillor Ellen Robinson, at Sedgefield parish hall.
