A TOUCH-SCREEN tourist information panel has made locals see red in Ripon - because it gives too much information about neighbouring Harrogate.
Following complaints from city councillor Andrew Williams, action is being taken to make the information more local.
"We think Harrogate is big enough to promote itself and don't see why we should be promoting their town in the heart of our tourist area near the cathedral," said one objector.
"We have enough attractions in the Ripon area to trumpet without promoting Harrogate," he added.
Ripon City councillors agree. Action is being taken through Ripon City Partnership, an organisation charged with improving tourism in the city, to increase local content on screen at the city's tourist information centre at the junction of Kirkgate and Minster Road.
A council spokesman said it would be appropriate to have more localised information dominating the touch-screen service.
