A NORTH Yorkshire supplier has gone that extra mile to ensure his customers can expect the best.
Michael Harrison, managing director of Richmond's Northern Select Foods, has assigned himself a twice-monthly van run to the Rungis Market, in Paris.
The French connection gives the Yorkshire firm access to meats, cheeses, poultry, flowers and fish from around the world.
Italian pastas, Belgian chocolates, continental cheeses and charcuterie products have already found their way into hotels and restaurants around Richmond.
"This is an exciting and innovative move which is taking the company forward," said Mr Harrison.
"We can get hold of some of the most unique products which will assist chefs in the creation of more varied and exciting menus, which could bring new customers to eat in their establishments."
Although Mr Harrison is doing the trip himself at the moment, the company is now looking for an experienced driver with enough French to be able to negotiate prices.
Anyone who thinks they may fit the bill is asked to call (01748) 811555.
