A £6.3m house improvement programme has been hailed a success by Derwentside District Council.
The cash, used to improve energy efficiency in 4,700 homes, means the district now meets Government targets for heat efficiency.
The council has invested in replacement central heating systems, loft and cavity wall insulation and draught proofing schemes.
The authority received grant-aided work, of more than £700,000, towards the costs
