A RURAL primary school was transformed into the unlikely setting of a German beer festival for a major production.
Parents were treated to traditional sausages and Black Forest gateau while youngsters at Woodleigh School, near Malton, performed songs from the musical Cabaret.
It was the latest in a series of themed events which the school puts on for the benefit of parents - and headteacher Michael England said it was a roaring success.
"Our school cook Jane Goodwin did an excellent job rustling up some traditional food for visiting parents.
"It was a very enjoyable event and everyone appreciated the effort the children made," he said.
The theme involved children evoking scenes from 1930s Berlin and singing.
