A HAIRDRESSER has gone back to her roots after learning all about the latest organic shampoos being used in London hair-stylists.
Michelle Costello is using the latest "green" hair products to help transform the twin set and pearls image of the North-East.
But the people of Pelton, near Chester-le-Street - where Michelle's Green's Hairdressing salon opened at the end of last year - need not worry.
As the hair stylist explained: "Although Green's aims to be environmentally friendly, we don't want to be seen as some loony outfit."
Inspired by a recent stint spent working in the capital, Ms Costello said her organic hair products perform just as well as chemicals, but don't have any of the potentially harmful side effects.
She said: "I have worked at some of the top salons in London and there is a real trend down there towards using natural ingredients on your hair.
"From experience, we believe the standard chemicals damage hair and certainly cannot be helping the environment."
