PEOPLE living in east Gates-head have been invited to help transform a rundown five-hectare park into a nature reserve.
The scheme at Windy Nook forms part of Gateshead Council's Next to Nature project to turn several small areas into community-run nature reserves.
The plans will be unveiled at a meeting, at Windy Nook Methodist Chapel, at 7pm on Tuesday.
An English Nature Wildspace! grant and funding from Thompson's of Prudhoe have made the scheme possible.
Other areas being considered to be part of the Next to Nature scheme include Bensham, Dunston, Pelaw, Team Valley, Swalwell and Felling.
Residents, businesses, schools or community groups who would like more information about Next to Nature projects in east Gateshead can call Peter Shield at Gateshead Council, on 0191-433 3441
