LIBRARIES in Hartlepool are joining forces with some of the region's top poets to serve up a poetry feast over the coming weeks.
The events get under way at Hartlepool Central Library on Sunday, when there will be a poetry workshop between 2pm and 4pm.
Anyone aged 15 and over is invited to go along, with poets on hand to help teach people Haiku, the shortest form of poetry.
Further workshops will be held at Hartlepool Central Library on Sunday, March 24, between 2pm and 4pm, and at Seaton Library on Sunday, April 7, between 1pm and 4pm.
The biggest event will be a poetry party at Hartlepool library on Saturday, April 6, when there will be an evening of poetry and live music, showcasing poets' work from the North-East.
Kay Tranter, of Hartlepool Borough Libraries, said: "Poetry can provide immense satisfaction and enjoyment and these events are designed to encourage more people to get involved.
"At the poetry party there will also be an opportunity for anyone who wants to come along and read out some of their work.
"There are plenty of talented poets of all ages living in Hartlepool. This is the time for them to speak their lines and be heard."
The project is being supported by Cleveland Arts and Reading North.
Further information about the events is available from Kay Tranter on (01429) 226205.
