Natural causes verdict given
A VERDICT of natural causes was recorded at an inquest yesterday into the death from lung cancer of 78-year-old Isaac Nellist, a retired pipe lagger of Venables Road, Guisborough. A second inquest was opened into the death of 64-year-old Guisborough born William Robert Nellist, a retired painter and decorator, who lived in Monmouth Road, Middlesbrough. It was adjourned for further inquiries. An inquest was also opened and adjourned at Middlesbrough into the death of Darren Breckon, 28. A doctor attended Mr Beckon's home in Longhurst, Coulby Newham and pronounced him dead.
SPECIALIST MEETING: The North-East Lupus group will meet on Tuesday. The meeting will be held at the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, from 7.30pm. Specialists in the condition will be at the meeting. All are welcome.
STAR TURNS: Youngsters who fancy being a star can sign up for a role in Pop Life - a new show being prepared in the region. Academy Five from Billingham is creating the show based on chart hits. Anyone interested in taking part should log on to casting The Melody Makers, a small singing group from Redcar, have had a busy period taking their brand of music to a number of elderly people's homes throughout Teesside. TEMPORARY LIGHTS: There will be temporary traffic lights all next week at the Saltburn Lane junction with Station Road at Skelton to allow for the construction of a filter lane by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
COFFEE MORNING: Skelton Methodist Church is holding a coffee morning tomorrow, from 10am until 11.30am. All proceeds are for Christian Aid's Fair Trade Appeal and refreshments will cost 50p. There will be stalls including Traidcraft produce. All are welcome.
Confirmation service: There is a departure from custom at St Nicholas Church in Guisborough this weekend as the annual Confirmation service is moved to Sunday evening at 6.15pm instead of the morning Parish Communion. The service will be led by the Bishop of Whitby, the Right Reverend Robert Ladds, as part of a celebration of Holy Communion. It will replace the usual Sunday service.
