A MAN caught with Ecstasy tablets at a Newcastle University students' open night was yesterday given the go-ahead to appeal against his five-year jail term.
Antony Christopher Graham, 28, of Molyneaux Court, Byker, Newcastle, pleaded guilty at Newcastle Crown Court on June 25 last year to possessing Ecstasy with intent to supply and to being concerned in the supply of the drug.
London's Criminal Appeal Court yesterday granted him leave to appeal against the length of his sentence. No date was set for the full appeal hearing.
In the grounds of appeal, it was argued that five years was "manifestly excessive" given Graham's guilty pleas and the absence of any previous Class A drug conviction.
