Andrew Aisbitt of Cockton Hill will meet Michael Pratt of Old Shildon in the final after both came through their semi-finals with 3-1 victories. These two have met many times before and a tremendous final is anticipated, although the date and venue will not be decided until the Association meeting on 28 March.
Andrew Aisbitt faced George Whitelock in the semi-final at Fishburn with the first frame close until all the reds were cleared. At this point Aisbitt took over and eased through to go one up. He added the second after he put in a decisive 42 break. Whitelock picked up his game in the third frame and put in a 24 break. Despite missing an easy pot that ended the break, he had moved far enough ahead to put his first point on the board. The fourth frame followed the pattern of the first with Aisbitt moving up an extra gear when it was needed and finished as a deserving victor.
Michael Pratt faced Sonny Hann of Crowtrees in his semi-final at Durham City and started in great form by putting in a 63 break to take the first frame. In the second frame Hann was in with a good chance, needing only the pink and final red to put Pratt in trouble. However he jumped over the pink whilst trying a deep screw and allowed Pratt to add a second point. In the third Hann got into a thirteen points lead with only the pink and black left with Pratt failing to get the desired snooker. The final frame was dominated by some first class safety play but it was Hann who made the first mistake and Pratt capitalised to go through to the final.
