LINGDALE rider James Reveley celebrated his 13th birthday with a double win over Walter Taylor's excellent tracks at the Stainsby Grange junior premier show.
He took the strongly contested 128/138cm handicap on Spirit of Boadicea ahead of David Harland on Grey Guy and Loftus rider Daniel Neilson on Sligo Lucky. He also took the national 138cm qualifier ahead of Welsh rider Alex Evans.
Trained by Paul Barker, James was also third in the winter 138cm second round behind Wembley winner William Whitaker on Mystic Starlight Express, having already qualified at Arena UK with Boadicea and Double Dominic.
Daniel Neilson was fourth and fifth in the winter 128cm second round on Micklow Rapidash and Sligo Lucky. Matthew Sampson qualified Mac Nugget in the 138cm section to delight owner Janet Valks.
Martha Beaumont from Stocksfield produced a good performance in the winter JA classic with Colton Maelstrom, who is the winner of seven consecutive European gold medals, and was runner-up in the Dunglenn qualifier behind Scottish rider Emma Doherty.
Darren Smith from Thornaby won the Blue Chip Sparkle JC/JA qualifier on his Wembley finalist Lady Millennium. Runner-up was Stephanie Robinson from Redcar with Little Irish Lad.
Joe Whitaker, nephew of Olympic riders John and Michael Whitaker, rode Royal Mint to take the August Silk qualifier and was also runner-up in the winter JC Royal International qualifier behind Lance Whitehouse.
