PUPILS from a Chester-le-Street secondary school saw democracy in action when they spent a day at the Houses of Parliament recently.
Youngsters from Roseberry Comprehensive met their local MP Kevan Jones and were given a guided tour of the corridors of power.
Following a lively questions and answers session with the 32 sixth-formers, Mr Jones said: "I am always pleased when young people get the opportunity to visit Parliament.
"It is vital they are encouraged to understand how our political system works."
