STRUGGLING Darlington FC could add at least one trophy to its cabinet this year - courtesy of a team of schoolgirls.
A team from Sunnydale School, Shildon, County Durham travels to Huddersfield on Wednesday to represent the Quakers in the regional finals of the Adidas Community Cup.
They will come up against under-13 sides representing other North football clubs, including Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Sunderland and Leeds.
They qualified by winning a competition organised by Darlington FC at the town's Eastbourne Sports Complex.
Jennifer Jennings, Lauren McDonnell, Natasha Wood, Stephanie Hall, Kirsty Wilson, Carrie Whensley, Emma Robson and Natalie Berry, won all their games.
They beat teams from Woodham Comprehensive, Newton Aycliffe, Ferryhill Comprehensive, and Carmel School, Branksome Comprehensive and Eastbourne Comprehensive, in Darlington.
Coach Malcolm Dover said: "We know it's going to be tough in Huddersfield, but the girls will be doing their best to give a good account of themselves as representatives of Darlington FC."
