HUNDREDS of Indian people who have made their homes in Britain will gather in the region for a celebration later this month.
The two-day event, organised by the Kannada Balaga UK organisation, will take place at the Hurworth Grange Community Centre, Hurworth, near Darlington, on Saturday and Sunday, March 30 and 31.
About 200 people will attend the first day, with 250 expected on the Sunday, all of whom originate from Karnataka state, in India, but have settled in Britain for two or three generations.
A different area hosts the event every year, and it is hoped this year's celebrations will raise £10,000 for a leprosy hospital in Pavgada, India.
Cultural programmes and meals have been organised for the festivities.
