CHRIS Turner joined the growing band of discontented managers on Saturday.

While the national spotlight fell of Eddie Wolstenholme and the infamous Sheffield United against West Brom game, the Pool boss was left exasperated at the performance of Wallsall referee Mark Cooper and his assistant as Pool drew 0-0 at Rochdale.

Mr Cooper, who has only refereed Pool once before in the defeat at Leyton Orient on August 27, booked Pool's Darrell Clarke and Gordon Watson for dissent and chalked off a Clarke effort following an innocuous challenge on keeper Matthew Gilks.

However, the highlight was when Clarke was flagged offside - despite being handed possession by Rochdale's David Flitcroft.

"I've got no disagreements with the bookings, that was disappointing and the players will be fined for that," insisted Turner. "But when one player on the opposition goes through four players of our team and does not even get a yellow card is amazing. The referee had a word with Mark Tinkler for a challenge and if he had gone in the book it would have been a travesty because of their lad's challenges.

"But it's all about standards and every manager in the country is suffering. I can't remember one decision all season when I have thought 'we were lucky with that one'. We've just had two home games and should have had three penalties in those games - these things just don't go our way.

"When the linesman put his flag up for offisde you have to ask how they become linesman when they don't know the rules. It leaves the fans frustrated as much as the players and managers - they come along and pay their money."
