YOUNG artists can win prizes from a Darlington store while helping to celebrate an Easter appeal.

The Eggstravaganza Appeal aims to make Easter special for someone living on their own or a family in need, by distributing donated Easter eggs around the town.

A competition is being run at the Asda store, in Whinbush Way, for children to colour in an Easter bunny. There are three age groups: up to five, six to nine and ten to 13. The closing date for entries is next Sunday.

The competition will be judged by the Mayor of Darlington, Councillor Isobel Hartley, Ricky Durkin from Alpha Radio 103.2, and Sean Wilkinson from Asda.

The winners will be announced in the week starting March 26, and the winning entries will be displayed in the store.

Jane Chapman, from Asda, said: "Eggs are being donated to the appeal and this will help raise the profile across Darlington."

The appeal continues until Sunday.

Donated eggs can be delivered to the Alpha 103.2 studios in Woodland Road, or to the Asda store in Whinbush Way.
