PEOPLE living in certain parts of Hartlepool will get a chance tomorrow to help shape a £54m regeneration programme.
New Deal for Communities will hold a Community Forum meeting at the Grange Road Methodist Church at 6pm, when residents will be able to find out more about future plans and have their say. Over the next ten years, New Deal for Communities will have a role on transforming an area bordering the town centre that stretches from Hart Lane in the north to Belle Vue in the south. Projects aim to improve health, raise education standards, reduce crime, improve housing and the environment, create jobs and build a stronger community. The meeting is due to finish at about 7.30pm and be followed by a quiz.
Activity day: Confidence building, aromatherapy and Indian head massage are some of the sessions on offer to adults at the Hemlington Initiative Centre, Cass House Road, Hemlington, on Thursday, from 10am to 3pm. There are limited creche facilities for younger children. A free lunch is available for those taking part in the sessions, which start at 10am and 1pm. For details call (01642) 595740.
ANNUAL AWARD: There are two weeks to go in the quest to find Middlesbrough's citizen of the year. Organised by Middlesbrough Council and sponsored by HBS, the event aims to find the person who has made the biggest contribution to the community over the past 12 months. Anyone who lives in the borough of Middlesbrough can be nominated, and entry forms are available by contacting (01642) 262657. Nominations must reach the council by Tuesday, April 2. The award will be presented on Wednesday, May 8.
SPORTY CHANCE: There are still some places left on Stockton Borough Council's Easter coaching programme for youngsters aged between eight and 16. The council's sports development team is offering a range of activities, including tennis, football, horse riding and aerobics. SPRING FAIR: A spring fair will be held at Billingham Campus School, Billingham, from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday, April 20. There will be raffles, sporting events, refreshments and a driving school among the activities on offer. A number of teachers from the school will also take part in a sponsored abseil.
