THE traditional Chinese sport of dragon boat racing will take to the waters of the Castlegate Quay in Stockton to raise money for the Meningitis Trust.
The trust has organised the event, in partnership with the supermarket chain Somerfield and KwikSave, and is looking for 32 teams of ten people to take part in the North-East heat on July 7.
The challenge will help to raise vital funds for the trust, which helps to fight meningitis through research, education and support.
The winner of the North-East heat will go on to race in the grand final on September 29 at Bristol Docks for the Somerfield Dragon Boat Challenge Trophy.
Dragon Boat racing involves ten people paddling a 30ft boat over a 250m course with a drummer at the front beating time and a helm at the tail steering a straight course.
Anyone interested in getting a team together should contact 0845 120 4530.
