A woman who has been accosting male dog walkers and offering them sex is being hunted by police.
A man enjoying an evening stroll along York's Water Lane on Sunday evening was approached by a lady in her 30s who seemed friendly, warning him not to continue along the path as it was flooded.
However, after introducing herself as Jane, she asked him if he "liked fun" and if he would like to have sex in the bushes.
The man tried to make his excuses and leave, but the woman was insistent, holding his arm until he shook himself free and walked quickly away.
He later went to the police station to report the incident, prompting officers to appeal for help from anyone else who may have seen the woman in the area at the time.
Another man has since contacted York police, claiming he was approached by a woman fitting the same description who offered him sex a few days earlier.
"If it was an isolated incident, it would not seem too bad but, when there is a pattern developing then we have to intervene," said a police spokeswoman last night. "We will be making an effort to trace this woman so we can speak to her about her behaviour," she added.
The woman police are trying to trace has mousey brown hair cut in a bob and wears glasses with heavy black frames. She has a spotty complexion, was wearing a blue-and-white track suit and may have a small dog with her.
"The 'victim' who reported her to us was not particularly shaken by his ordeal - but thought we should know what had happened nevertheless," added the police spokeswoman. "We would still welcome hearing from anyone else who has information which may help with the inquiry."
Anyone else who has been approached by the woman or who suspects they my know who she is can contact York police on (01904) 631321.
