A NORTH Yorkshire school can boast a brace of top trophies after two hockey teams won titles at the area rally.
The under-14s from Queen Mary's School at Baldersby Park, near Thirsk, won five of their six matches to claim their prize, drawing their remaining game at the Allertonshire School, in Northallerton.
Meanwhile, the under-16s team also won the competition for their age group while the under-13s finished joint first, although they were second on goal difference.
The success brings a good season to a close for Queen Mary's. Under-15s' goalkeeper Sophie Buscall, of Richmond, has been selected for the North Yorkshire county squad and plays her first match for the side on Sunday.
Coach Debbie Hannam said: "It has been a good season for us, particularly when you consider that we have a relatively small pool of pupils. The girls are all very committed. This has brought the rewards they deserve."
Other pupils have been hitting the high notes at a music festival, with ten-year-old Abigail White and her sister, Susie, seven, from Dishforth, taking the top prizes in their age group at the Harrogate Competitive Festival for Music, Speech and Drama.
Queen Mary's Chapel Choir won the Wood Trophy in the Church Music Upper Voices Section of the festival.
Abigail won the Under 13s section and Susie the Under 11s; both will celebrate their success by performing in the school's end-of-term concert on Saturday (Mar 23)
