PRIMARY schoolchildren in Ferryhill have been working with art students to create printed designs.
The five-week project at Ferryhill Station Primary School came to an end yesterday.
Students Kevin Potts, Mark Walton and Daniel Walls and their tutor from Bishop Auckland College, Sheila Smithson, have been working in school with the pupils, aged seven and eight.
The school asked the college to show the children how to print on fabric, following a project last term when the youngsters investigated patterns.
Teacher Nicola Williams said: "They have been looking at African animals, which the children designed first on their pads and then printed on to polystyrene tiles. The children have worked very hard and the standard of the work is very high. They have produced some wonderful designs which are absolutely stunning."
The designs, featuring elephants, tigers and other African animals, will be displayed in school around an animal motif, provided by the college students.
