Darlington's players and chairman agreed to disagree yesterday when they met head-on at the training ground in Durham.
Chairman George Reynolds wanted the squad to apologise for walking out of the infamous fans' forum last month when his wife, Susan, had suggested it wasn't unknown for matches to be thrown at this time of year.
But the players refused and the meeting ended peacefully.
Captain Craig Liddle, who is also the club's PFA representative, explained: "He turned up when we were training.
"He wanted us to stop so he could speak to us then, but the gaffer wasn't having any of it.
"So he waited and spoke to us afterwards and wanted an apology, but we wouldn't give him one.
"It all ended quite amicably, really.
"We'd like to think that this is the end of the matter and hopefully we can get on with our football, starting on Saturday against Swansea.
"It's been a disastrous run and we don't want it to get into double-figures, but there's been a lot of things going on off the pitch which haven't helped."
Before the visit of Swansea to Feethams on Saturday, Darlington must again assess the injury situation as Phil Brumwell, David Brightwell and Brian Atkinson all picked up knocks on Saturday.
This meant Glenn Naylor's first appearance of the season had to be put on hold as all three had to substituted in favour of players who could fill their voids, leaving the striker on the bench.
Taylor was disappointed at not having the chance to field Naylor for part of the game, saying: "I could have started with Glenn but that's no good for the team.
"I was desperate to fetch him on with 20 minutes to go because he's a good forward and he's the only one at the club at the moment that you know can score a goal.
"I feel sorry for Steve the physio now, because he's got so many on the treatment table. He's taking one off and having to put another back on again.
"And he'll have another three to deal with this week."
Newcastle United central defender Gary Caldwell, on loan at Feethams during November and December, has received a call-up to the Scotland international squad.
Darlington fans are reminded the home match with Plymouth has been rearranged for Monday, April 15.
