MOHAMMED Ali and Long John Silver are pictured having their book reviews checked by Cruella De Vil.
The unlikely gathering happened at Tow Law Millennium Primary School last week, when Cruella, aka literacy co-ordinator Claire Singleton, helped out pirate Beth Watson and world champ boxer Rees Gibson with their work.
All pupils and teachers dressed up as characters from books to celebrate World Book Day, which also included a fairytale obstacle course.
Older pupils read to younger ones, then the pupils changed places and the early readers tried out their skills while the bigger ones listened.
The Scholastic Book Fair donated prizes for the best dressed in each class on the day.
The winners and runners-up from each class were: Class 1 Hazel Gwynnette and Kate Boughey; Class 2 Gary Burrows and Nikita Jade Graham; Class 3 Connor McCluskey and Beth Watson; Class 4 Lauren Morton and David Armstrong; Class 5 Samantha Hunt and Jordan McAndrew.
