THE North-East will be well represented in an awards ceremony to honour the achievements of people living with cystic fibrosis (CF).
There are five nominees from the region at the Cystic Fibrosis Trust Awards, held in London tomorrow.
The awards, sponsored by Next, recognise the exceptional achievements of young people and adults across the UK who live with cystic fibrosis (CF), the UK's most common, life threatening, inherited disease.
In the Junior Sport category, all the nominees come from the North-East. Joe Hughes, ten, from Chester-le- Street, has been nominated for his success on the football field.
Sophie Wood, nine, from Bowburn, near Durham City, has been nominated for her achievement in gymnastics where she is rated in the top 20 nationally.
Christopher Kerr, 14 , from Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, was nominated for achievement in the air cadets, cross-country and football.
In the junior academic category 16-year-old Holly Bryce from Jarrow, South Tyneside, is an A* student at St Wilfred RC Comprehensive School in South Shields.
Leeds University student Angharad Sutton from North Yorkshire is nominated in the adult academic category.
