NEW classes in tai chi and gentle exercise are to start shortly at the Pioneering Care Centre, in Newton Aycliffe.
The classes will be held at the centre, at Cobbler's Hall, off Burn Lane, on Thursday mornings next month.
They will be led by qualified instructors and will be suitable for people of all age groups and abilities.
Health projects co-ordinator Janet Price said: "Participating in regular, gentle exercise at a level you are comfortable with has many health benefits and can help improve mobility, circulation and help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.
"Tai chi is an ancient Chinese health art, involving sequences of beautiful, soft, flowing movements, created to enhance the individuals overall physical and mental well-being."
A weekly gentle exercise class starts on April 11, from 9.30am to 10.30am, and costs £2 to join.
A weekly tai chi class starts on April 18, from 11am to noon, and costs £2.50.
Mrs Price said: "Both activities are an excellent way of improving general fitness and well-being, meeting new people and having fun along the way."
