SPRING is ushered in at what is becoming a hardy annual event hosted by countryside officers and volunteers.
An afternoon of outdoor activities is lined up at Hetton Park, in Hetton-le-Hole on Saturday.
There are games and stories, a treasure hunt for youngsters, while parents can learn countryside skills, with Sunderland City Council's countryside team and members of the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.
City council countryside officer Claire Dewson said: "This has become a regular and popular event over the years and there's something for everyone to enjoy.
"People can come along for a few hours in the fresh air, have fun and learn something new in beautiful surroundings."
The council's countryside events listing publication, Seasons, is available from libraries, tourist information centres or by calling the countryside team, on 0191-553 1555.
