CHRIS Turner has never looked down - and his sights are firmly fixed on moving up.
Tuesday night's comfortable win at Carlisle took Hartlepool United to within five points of a play-off spot and Turner's side entertain Macclesfield tomorrow night looking to further close the gap and increase the pressure at the top.
With six games to go, Pool are seeking to repeat Blackpool's feat last season of reaching the play-offs on the final day of the season after a storming end-of-season run.
Turner insisted: "I've never been looking anywhere else other than the top seven for months. I've never looked behind us and the players have never thought we had no chance like a lot of people said when we didn't win the last two home games.
"We had some fans moaning at the players last Saturday at Rochdale because we didn't go forward in the last minutes - but now they might realise why we didn't.
"We couldn't afford to concede a goal - that was very important to us.
"On Tuesday we always felt we could go to Carlisle and win - we knew with the right commitment we could get the three points.
"If someone had said to me before the Rochdale game that we would get four points from the next two games with a home game coming up as well I would have taken it.
"At this stage of the season we just have to keep putting points on the board and I hope we have a little bit of luck, because we haven't had a great deal this year.
"But we still have a lot to do, there's still a long way to go and we are still in it.''
Pool's reserves won 4-1 at Halifax yesterday.
Adam Boyd shone in a central midfield role and scored two, with Eifion Williams also netting twice.
Williams scored for Pool's second string last week and impressed Turner at Brunton Park when he came on as a second-half substitute.
Turner said: "Eifion Williams went on for the last 15 minutes and showed everyone what he is capable of doing.
"He's got pace and the ability to go past people and when he settles into the club he'll do well for us.''
