Thieves target neighbours
BURGLARS have targeted neighbouring homes in the Hummersknott area of Darlington.
The raids were in St Hild Close overnight on Tuesday. Thieves stole silver ornaments and cut-glass items. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on (01325) 467681, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
DISABLED DEBATE: The future of play areas for disabled children in Darlington will be discussed as a joint meeting of Darlington Borough Council's social affairs and health scrutiny committee and the environment scrutiny committee, on April 16, at 10am.
FOOTBALL COURSE: A football coaching course for girls aged seven to 11 is being held at the Eastbourne Sports Complex, Darlington, on April 2 to 4, from 10am to noon. PARKING SOLUTION: A lack of staff car parking at St Augustine's Primary School, Beechwood Avenue, Darlington, could soon be solved. Plans submitted to Darlington Borough Council to use a playground as a staff car park will be discussed at next month's planning meeting. The application also seeks to create a new playground by levelling off and black topping a grassed area, at a cost of £23,000.
CHARITY EFFORT: The Country Casuals section of the Binns store, in Darlington, has adopted the Marie Curie Cancer appeal as its charity for the year and is to organise fashion shows and other events to raise funds. The first show will be held on April 23 at the Kings Head Hotel, Darlington. Tickets are available from the charity's office in High Chare Street, Chester-le-Street, or from Country Casuals in the Darlington store.
TENNIS COACHING: An Easter tennis coaching camp will run at Eastbourne Sports Complex, Darlington, from Monday to Thursday next week, for under-nines and under-11s. The younger group session runs from 10.30am to noon, the other from 1pm to 2.30pm. The cost is £6. For details or an application form call (01325) 243188.
PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW: An exhibition of landscape photography by Michael Stiff, called 360 Degrees of Perception, opens at the Myles Meehan Gallery, in Darlington Arts Centre on Saturday and will run until April 27. The exhibition is open from 9am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday.
DALES WALK: A four-mile walk around the Gaunless Valley will be held on Saturday, at 2pm. Meet at the visitor centre, near the Stag's Head, in Butterknowle.
FOLK NIGHT: A folk night in aid of the Witham Hall appeal is being held tomorrow, at 7.30pm, in the hall in Barnard Castle.
TABLE SALE: A table-top sale in St Mary's Parish Hall, Newgate, Barnard Castle, on Saturday, March 30, will run from 9.30am to 3.30pm
