REAL ale fans downed 4,000 pints between them at Darlington Beer Festival, organised by the Campaign for Real Ale alongside the Spring Thing folk festival.
The event was held at the Arts Centre between Thursday and Sunday and attracted beer lovers from all over. Polar Eclipse, a dark stout from the tiny Cheshire-based Beartown brewery, was named Beer of the Festival.
Organiser Brendan Boyle said all 48 beers in the programme were available and all were drunk dry. "It was a great success."
