HOCKEY players at Queen Mary's School, Topcliffe have been celebrating after winning the under 14s trophy at the area rally last week.
In the competition at Allertonshire School, Northallerton, the girls played six matches, winning five and drawing one, to win the award for the first time.
The success rounded off a good season for Queen Mary's, with the under 15s goalkeeper Sophie Buscall winning selection for the county squad. The 14-year-old from Richmond will make her county debut on Sunday.
The under 16s team also won at the area rally and the under 13s finished second on goal difference.
Coach Debbie Hannam said: "It's been a good season for us, particularly when you consider that we have a relatively small pool of pupils from which to choose our teams.
"The girls are all very committed and this has brought the rewards they deserve. It certainly means we will go into next season an a high."
