A GROUP of children at a Teesside nursery had an energetic time this week - running around to raise money so they can have some outside play equipment.
The 60 three and four-year-olds from Teesville Infants School were sponsored to complete as many PE equipment circuits as they could in 45 minute bursts with hoops, benches and boxes throughout the day in the school hall.
The event was organised by nursery teacher Rosetta McCleave and aimed to raise as much money as possible for the school's development plan for outside play facilities.
Thanks to funding from the Teesside Health Action Zone and the Redcar and Cleveland Early Years and Childcare Development Partnership, a safety play surface has been installed.
There are also plans for a sitting, reading and picnic area, as well as a sandpit.
Headteacher Carole Lamb said the children enjoyed the busy day.
"We're very aware of the importance of outdoor play and the benefits of physical exercise.
"That's why we've chosen this sort of sponsored activity," she said.
