PUPILS are turning their attention from the tradition sports of football and netball to concentrate on table-tennis, thanks to a National Lottery grant.
Warwick Road Primary School, in Bishop Auckland, has received a £2,000 grant to pay for table-tennis coaching and equipment, including two table-tennis tables.
Pupils have been given regular coaching during school hours and are now queuing up to practise their skills in after-school clubs.
Headteacher Geoff Price said: "It is something that we wanted to develop as part of our PE programme and also for extra-curricular clubs. It is something children enjoy and are successful at. The kids have really come on in leaps and bounds thanks to this."
