Police appeal over theft
Police have appealed for help from health workers after a spare wheel was stolen from the back of a black Land Rover Discovery parked in a medical centre car park.
The wheel was taken from Escomb Road, Bishop Auckland, between 7.45 and 12.50pm yesterday. Anyone with information is asked to contact Bishop Auckland CID on (01388) 603566.
HOMES SCHEME: Plans for two semi-detached, three-bedroom houses on land adjacent to 3 The Green, Bishopton, have been received by Darlington Borough Council.
RESIDENTS MEET: A meeting of Chilton West Residents' Association will be held at Chilton and Windlestone Working Men's Club next Tuesday, at 7.15pm.

LOCKS FITTED: Locks have been fitted to communal bin cupboards and washing areas at Boyden Court and Vickers Court, Newton Aycliffe, at a cost of £146, under Sedgefield Borough Council's tidy estates and community involvement initiative.
SLIDE SHOW: Barnard Castle Ramblers will hold a slide show called Around Europe, presented by Joan and Ian Martin, on April 3, at 7.30pm, in the Methodist Church Hall.
CHARITY NIGHT: A charity night at Newton Aycliffe Working Men's Club on Wednesday raised £1,250 for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
FOLK EVENT: A folk night with Nebula starts at 7.30pm tonight, in aid of the Witham Hall Appeal, at the hall in Barnard Castle. For tickets call (01833) 631107.
WI TALK: The next meeting of Gainford Women's Institute will be held on Wednesday, at 7.30pm, in the village hall, when Norman Kelly will give a talk called The Old Grocery Shop.
ROCK NIGHT: The Belvedere Club, Bishop Auckland, is hosting a rock night on Friday, April 5. Admission will cost £2.
PRODUCTIVE PAPER: The Butterwick Hospice in Bishop Auckland collected seven tonnes of waste paper for recyling, through people passing on their Christmas cards and Yellow Pages telephone directories earlier in the year.
SCHOOL FUNDS: The Friends of St William's RCVA Primary School, Trimdon, organised a fashion show recently which raised almost £200 for extra equipment and books.
MUSIC CLASSES: Classes in guitar, keyboard, drums and disc jockeying for adults and children are on offer at Greenfield Community and Arts Centre, Newton Aycliffe.
