YOUNGSTERS from 13 Darlington primary schools made a splash in the second of two annual swimming galas in the town last night.
The Darlington Primary Schools' Swimming Gala (Larger Schools) took place at the Dolphin Centre, with prizes going to the top girls' team, boys' team and overall winners.
A special fun race was also held, pitting headteachers against each another, and there was a collection in aid of sufferers of Alzheimer's disease.
Youngsters from Abbey Juniors, Alderman Leach, Corporation Road, St Bede's, Heathfield, Middleton St George, Mowden, Raventhorpe Preparatory School, Reid Street, Heighington, Springfield, Whinfield and Rise Carr schools, took part.
The event, with last week's contest for smaller schools, was organised with the help of Darlington Borough Council and Darlington Swimming Club.
Winners were: Boys' team, Heighington; girls' team, Mowden; and the overall winners were Mowden
