A SPELL in police custody has worked wonders for a nanny goat who has changed her ways.
Muffin is settled at Farplace Animal Rescue, Westgate, Weardale, County Durham, after going on the rampage through Bishop Auckland a few weeks ago.
Motorists smirked as police tried to catch Muffin, who was in the middle of the road, near Newtoncap Viaduct.
Her adventure even took her into High Bondgate, where amused shoppers looked on as she walked down the street.
Her eventual capture led to a night or two in custody, in the hope that her owners would come and collect her.
But no one came forward and now the animal has made new friends in Westgate.
Jan Edwards, of Farplace, said Muffin had settled in well.
She said: "It always takes time to introduce a new goat to an existing group of goats, but she has settled in well.
"She is gorgeous. She was very nervous at first, but very friendly once she trusts you."
But Muffin still has a sense of mischief.
Mrs Edwards said: "She is hard work because she is a bit of an escape artist."
Farplace Animal Rescue is looking for help in the form of donations.
