A TEENAGER could be set for stardom after gaining a place in a National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT) production.
Sarah Warbey, a pupil at Hummersknott School and Languages College, and a member of Darlington Stagecoach Theatre Arts, beat off strong competition to gain a part in the ground-breaking project.
She will take to the stage in the NYMT North's futuristic show Late Sleepers, as a member of a self-styled vampire gang.
The production, in association with Newcastle Theatre Royal and the Gateshead Music Centre, will be performed at the Theatre Royal Newcastle on August 16 and 17.
Sarah, who must raise £150 to take part, has already worked with Pop Idol star and former Darlington Stagecoach member Zoe Birkett.
Trudy Hindmarsh, principal of Stagecoach Darlington, said: "Sarah is an exceptionally good all-round performer for her age, but she has a particularly outstanding singing voice. I am sure she will be an asset to the NYMT production."
