A NORTH-EAST theatre is to get its youngest boss in its 94-year history.
Sunderland-born Debbie Garrick is moving on as manager of the city's Empire Theatre and will be replaced by 26-year-old Dominic Stokes, from Felixstowe, Suffolk.
He worked with Ms Garrick for a few months when she was appointed in October 2000 as Tyne and Wear's first female theatre boss.
Ms Garrick, whose parents and sister live in Sunderland, is becoming a divisional manager with the Empire's operating company, Clear Channel Entertainment.
Her role will include overseeing the company's local authority theatres, including York and Scarborough.
Mr Stokes said: "Debbie has done a tremendous job in Sunderland and is moving upward in the company. I hope to carry on the work already started, bringing West End shows to the North-East.
