JOBS SAVED: More than 40 jobs in Corus's finance department will remain on Teesside, rather than be transferred to Scunthorpe. But about 24 jobs must go over the next two years through voluntary redundancy. The move follows Corus's decision to put its closure of Steel House on hold.
CAR DEAL: Motor group Quicks may be taken over in a £40m deal. Quicks has recommended shareholders accept a 100p-per-share bid from Harrogate motor retailer CD Bramall. The offer values Quicks, which floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1947, at £40.2m.
AWARD WIN: Design consultancy The Roundhouse has won national recognition for a campaign to promote Teesside's Wilton Centre. The Newcastle agency got a commendation in the Industrial and Warehousing category of the Property Advertising Marketing and Design Awards.
