Police are warning women walking on Durham's riverbanks to beware following a daylight sex attack.
The warning comes after an unnamed 20-year-old from the city was indecently assaulted on Prebends Bridge on Monday lunchtime.
The attack, which left the woman badly shaken but physically unharmed, took place in the shadow of Durham Cathedral at 12.30pm.
Police said she was approached from behind by a teenager who ran off after the attack. Inspector Mick Nail, of the city's CID, said there had been a number in the area in the last few months, including indecent exposure.
He said police wanted people walking in the area, particularly students, to be aware of what had been happening.
The attacker is said to be in his mid-teens, 5ft 7ins tall, of stocky build and has brown hair.
He was wearing blue jeans and a white sweat shirt and had a carrier bag thought to contain bread.
Anyone who recognises the description or saw the attack is asked to call the city's CID on 01291-386 4222 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on (0800) 555111.
