More than 400 workers will be made redundant at car parts plant Federal Mogul Sunderland.

A German company will buy the North-East factory after administrators of the car parts plant revealed that it will be closed in six months.

The administrators struggled for since January to sell the loss-making factory, which had an order book worth £18m.

There were 25 inquiries, but the only group prepared to buy the company is Federal Mogul Bursheid, the Rhineland-based subsidary of the US group which owned the Wearside plant.
