EASTER came early for youngsters who use a resource centre in Houghton-le-Spring.
Cable company NTL Home donated hundreds of chocolate eggs to children at the creche in the Houghton Racecourse Community Access Point.
The treats were handed out yesterday by the firm's mascot, Ellie the Bear.
The creche cares for children whose parents use the many services offered by Houghton Access Point, including training.
Jane Burlinson, access point co-ordinator, said: "We are thrilled to bits by this generous gift from NTL.
"It's a great surprise for a group of children who really deserve a treat.''
Peter Wilcock, managing director for NTL Home in the North-East, said: "As a dad, I know how excited children get at Easter and I'm thrilled that we have been able to help Houghton Access Point give this special Easter surprise to some very deserving children."
