AFTER a lifetime of travelling and painting, railway artist Roy Wilson is staging his first solo exhibition at the age of 75.
More than 40 of his paintings and sketches will go on display at the National Railway Museum, in York, over Easter - including many featuring the award-winning museum itself.
Mr Wilson, a life member of the Guild of Railway Artists, has combined a love of railways, art and travel throughout his 50-year career, first as a draughtsman and then as an exhibition designer.
He favours mainly pastels, with the hallmark of his work nearly always being people. Friends and family can be found hidden away in many of Mr Wilson's scenes.
"I find people fascinating," he said.
"I like to be able to tell a story with each painting and observing people as they go about their daily lives enables me to do that very easily."
The exhibition, Inspired - Roy Wilson's Railway Art, is open until June 30.
Mr Wilson, of Leeds, will also be the artist in residence at the museum at various times during the exhibition.
